Hello,

My name is Ms. Chrissy Alexander, and I will have the pleasure of teaching 2nd grade this year.  My education includes a Master of Arts in Secondary Education and my teaching experience includes 2 years as a 7th grade teacher.

Mrs. Nadezdha Khaimova (Mrs. K) will be my teaching assistant this year.  We are very excited to work with all parents and students to make this a memorable and successful year!

Announcements

Students have been working hard on their evaluative testing.  Galileo Testing took place August 11th and 12th. One-on-one Dibels Testing started August 13th.  A-Z will be another
one-on-one test that will start soon.  These tests help to assess reading and math scores.

Homework

Two days worth of homework will be given every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday averaging an hour a night. Homework is not given on R & R weekends.

Please start the regular routine of having students read an age/grade level appropriate book to you. After reading, please ask questions to re-tell and summarize the reading.  For example:
-Who were the characters in the story?
-Where/when did the story take place? (Setting)
-What was the story about?

It is highly encouraged for students to write some of these answers out in complete sentences in addition to some of the vocabulary words from the reading.

These practices re-enforce reading, comprehension, and writing skills that will help in all subjects.
